I am the youngest daughter (of 5 children) of PFC Willard H. Keeber who served in the 106th Infantry Regiment, 424th Division, 2nd Battalion, Co G as a Mortar Gunner during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Like many Veterans of that conflict, my father rarely spoke of his experiences in Europe. My 89 year old mother and I went to Europe in October 2017 to follow in Willard's footsteps, so much as was possible at the time, to learn what we could about his experiences there. That trip led to much research with the desire to learn as much as I could about this formative time in Willard's life. This Blog is all about the trip, research and what I learned.
